Common Questions

Absolutely. Our telehealth option means you can be supported from the comfort of your own home. No travel, no parking, no shoes required!

Some people feel a little nervous about virtual sessions, which is understandable. Common worries include quality of care, the perceived impersonality of being behind a screen, or whether the technology will be difficult to use.

Please be assured:

  • You’re not alone. Carly will spend time with you at the beginning of your first session to ensure you are comfortable with the online environment.
  • We use a secure and user-friendly telehealth platform, Coviu. No downloads or logins are required – just click and join your session from any device connected to the internet.
  • Research shows that telehealth care is as effective as in-person care for counselling for behaviour change.

If you’ve never seen a dietitian, or if this is your first time experiencing a different approach, you may be wondering what happens during a consultation.

The first session is about hearing your food and body story. There will be questions to guide the conversation, such as:

  • What your history with food looks like
  • Your views on body image and body concerns
  • Your current health and how food fits in your life

We’ll identify what you’d like to achieve and then form a roadmap to help you reach your goals. We will also discuss other supports that would benefit you on your journey.

For each subsequent session, we’ll spend time:

  • Delving deeper into certain areas of your health, food, eating, or body image story
  • Discussing any actions you’ve tried between sessions and thoughts you’ve noted
  • Learning about topics related to eating, food, the body, and health
  • Sharing resources, including podcasts, books, blogs, or activities that will support your journey

At Connected Nourishment, we practice Medical Nutrition Therapy using the Health at Every Size® framework. Health is influenced by many things, and our life story can impact this in many ways. The non-diet approach celebrates that bodies come in all shapes and sizes and looks at how food and movement can improve overall well-being rather than simply being ‘rules’ to follow. This approach gives you permission to focus on your overall health rather than weight and shape.

This practice is a private clinic, and we are unable to bulk bill.
